North Yorkshire Police have launched a new scheme which is designed to help find people with dementia who go missing. The Herbert protocol is a national initiative adopted by the force which aims to provide the police with quick, detailed information about a person’s background and history to help speed up the time taken to find them.
The basis of the scheme is for vital information about the person such as medication, description, photograph, significant places in the person’s life and their daily routine, to be recorded on a form. North Yorkshire Police will only ask for the form if the person at risk has been reported missing.
The form can be downloaded or printed from the North Yorkshire Police website or pick one up from your local police station.
